"Casual Ocean" is the latest effort from native Californian Stephen Sciallo
The one term that most aptly describes Casual Ocean is quiet.
Slow reflections of sound undulate over empty space. Unresolved and directionless, these songs will move the listener in unexpected ways.
Ajnani struggles to maintain its breath while Gaur provides the hope of rising from empty space; Homa explores the resonance from which all music springs.
All told, Causal Ocean is a statement about unoccupied spaces. Like shining a weak lantern on a dark ocean, what is hidden is sensed rather than seen or heard.
This album is worth a late night listen.
